The 400kV overhead line was the first application of monopoles at the 400kV voltage level and was designed by TAP to overcome the servitude constraints on the line. The structure designs provided by TAP extend to include a 400kV guyed lattice tower and the aesthetically pleasing Invisible tower shown below.
TAP was responsible for the design and testing of all towers and the 50 km overhead line design from the Palmiet pump storage facility to Stikland substation in the Western Cape.
The project was successfully managed by TAP through their project management and site supervision services during construction.
